Brown County: Annandale House

At that same charity auction that got us a ride on Old Engine 1, Caleb also bid on and won a one night stay in Brown County’s Annandale House.

Located just a few minutes outside Nashville, Annandale House is a “peaceful wooded retreat.”  The house has many amenities:  a game room, multiple flat screen TVs with DVD players, a large DVD collection, and a semi-private lake.  The house can also sleep up to 12 adults.

Since the house sleeps 12, we decided to invite some guests.  Unfortunately, our original guests couldn’t make it but one of Caleb’s college buddies and his wife, and their two kids were able to join us.  This was totally awesome because they were coming through Bloomington and offered to picked up Avers Pizza on the way.  Our Aver’ss Pizza closed a few years ago and Caleb and I jump at the chance to get it anytime we can.

Caleb, Isaac, and I played around the house until our pizza and friends arrived.  After dark, we ventured outside for a bit.  A friendly neighborhood cat stopped by for a bit and kept Isaac entertained.  But it was dark and really cold so we didn’t stay out too long.

Being late and chilly we spent the rest of the evening eating and staying warm inside.  It was too cold to even check out the hottub.  Of course, the dads had an extra special treat inside so I don’t think they minded too much.

The boys ventured out to check out the great outdoors in the morning.  And boys being boys, they just had to throw things in the lake.

Annandale House was a pretty neat little excursion and we had great company.  If it hadn’t have been so cold we would have spent quite a bit more time playing around/in the lake and in the surrounding woods.
