Madison County: Hoosier Park Race Track
A couple of months ago, we had a guys’ night out and a bunch of us traveled to a nearby horse track to see a horse race, in which another friend of ours owned one of the racing hoses.
That horse’s name is “HQH Burn Notice”, and he won that race.
Flash forward to Saturday August 20, and his horse was racing again – this time during the daylight hours, making it much easier for Annie and Isaac to also attend.
Post time for Burnie’s race was 4:30, and the drive from our house to the track is about 90 minutes. This somewhat conflicted with Isaac’s nap time, so we left the house around 12:45 with the intent to let him sleep in the car on the way up.
We got to Anderson around 2, and felt since we were a little early we’d stop at target to kill some time.
We headed over to the track, and they were ahead of schedule. There were still about 4 races before Burnie’s post time, so we piddled around. Isaac enjoyed the scenery, talking with people he didn’t know, and climbing on things.

I put down $10 on Burnie to win, and had talked a few other people nearby to put some money on him as well.
Unfortunately, he got hit from both sides and almost got knocked over. Afterwards we found out he lost a shoe. He ended up 7th (of 9).
Still, we all had a great time, and watching the horses run is a fun way to spend a few hours. Better luck next time, Burnie.
