Monroe County: Taste of Bloomington
On Saturday, June 18, 2011 we headed over to Monroe County to checkout the “Taste of Bloomington” event.
We left just after Isaac’s nap, and got to our friends’ house just before 4pm, just in time to drive downtown to the event. After a bit of search for parking, we found a spot and got in.
The event cost $6 to get in, and then beer and food was on top. There were around 50 different food vendors, each selling selections that cost around $3-$4. Beer was $5 each, and besides the standard Bud Light style fare both Bloomington Brewery and Upland Brewery were there with their selections.
There were two stages of entertainment as well. The main stage while we got there had Reggae band The Ark Band.
Isaac be jammin to some Reggae.
Of course, I enjoyed the food and beer, like some fried dill chips courtesy of Scotty’s Brewhouse.

Around 6pm, the line to get in was monstrously long (this was just 1 of three different entrance gates)
Who needs food when you’ve got bouncy play places?
All in all, the food selections and beer were both excellent.
By around 6:30pm it was getting extremely crowded, the food lines were rather long, and with tired kids and having to navigate through the crowd with a stroller we packed up and headed out.
We definitely enjoyed the event, and look forward to heading back again next year.
