Dubois County: An afternoon in the country

On Saturday, March 10, we took advantage of a beautiful day and jumped into the airplane and flew to Dubois County to visit one of Caleb’s college buddies, his wife, and their 4 kids.

The skies around the Columbus airport upon our departure were busy.  There were 5 planes out flying in formation as we were waiting for the OK to take off.

Lots of planes on the ramp at the Columbus airport.

Caleb wanted to fly over Henryville, Indiana and get a glimpse of the devastation of the March 2 tornado’s but the air traffic controller indicated there were a number of other planes attempting the same thing so we opted to just head on to the French Lick Airport.

After a 40 minute flight and about a 15 minute drive we arrived our friend’s house.  First things first, Isaac needed to check out the animals.

Isaac loved chasing the chickens but he wasn’t keen on the idea of petting one.  I was a little surprised he didn’t take more interest in the baby chicks, but to be fair, there were two tractors in the barn to occupy his attention.

Then we had to check out the lake.

After checking out all of the toys inside the house, Caleb, Isaac, Shawn, Alex, Adam, and Grace headed out for a walk in the woods and to check out the tree stand.

After traipsing thru the woods it was time to eat.  Luckily for us, Shawn was smoking some pork.  And boy was it good!

Although this isn’t an adventure for all of our readers, Isaac sure enjoyed his afternoon in the country.
