Ripley County: National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association Shoot and Friendship Flea Market
Twice a year the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association hold an annual shoot in the town of Friendship Indiana. Coinciding with the shoot is the Friendship Flea Market.
While visiting Spring Mill State Park, we happened upon some cannons being fired. Since Isaac and Zoe seemed interested, Caleb thought they might enjoy a visit to Friendship during one of the two annual shoots.
We arrived close to 11:00; any later and I don’t think we would have been able to find a parking spot. Shortly after arriving, Isaac and Zoe spotted a creek and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play.
After pulling the kids away from the creek, we meandered through the market on the other side of the gun range and then over toward the shoot site.
Unfortunately, it was hard to capture the size and scope of the flea market in a picture.
There wasn’t a good viewing area for watching the shooting at the shoot site but both of the kids did enjoy hearing the muzzle loaders.
Here’s a view of the traffic/parking situation; although, the picture doesn’t quite do the backup justice.
It was back to the other side of the market for some more playing in the creek and a hunt for the “perfect” toy from the flea market before heading home.
