Washington County: Maple Syrup Festival
A few years ago, Caleb got some real maple syrup from my sister for Christmas. Ever since then, we’ve become real maple syrup snobs. So it seemed like the Maple Syrup Festival would be right up our alley.
It just so happened that the first day of the Maple Syrup Festival was the nicest day in months. The festival was packed; we parked close to 1/4 of a mile up the road and tractor rides weren’t being offered because the tractor was busy shuttling guests to and from their cars. And there was LOTS of mud. Very good for the folks putting on the festival, not so good for little kids that don’t like to wait in line. Unfortunately we didn’t explore the festival as much as we had hoped but the kiddos enjoyed seeing the sights, throwing sticks in the nearby river and getting muddy.
Pro-tip: No matter how dry it’s been the few days before the festival, wear boots.
