Biscayne National Park
National Park #10
Our National Park adventures began back in 2017. We decided to add a trip to the Grand Canyon while visiting the Albuquerque International Ballon Fiesta. Now we’re hooked! So when we decided to vacation in southern Florida for Christmas, we decided a visit to Biscayne National Park was in order.
Biscayne National Park was the tenth National Park we have visited.
95% of Biscayne National Park is water – so hiking, our favorite national park activity, wasn’t going to work on this trip. We had hoped to do some canoeing or kayaking in Biscayne but the kids did not meet the age requirements for these guided these tours. So we opted for a boat ride to Boca Chita.
It was a long and chilly boat ride over to Boca Chita but it was fun to learn the explore the little island and learn the history.
We had about an hour to play on the island.
The boat ride back to the mainland was colder and wetter but the kids still managed to get their Junior Ranger books completed.
Although Biscayne isn’t my favorite National Park, it’s definitely worth a day trip if you’re in the area.
