Warrick County – The Museum of the Coal Industry

We’ve lucked into a number of cool things/places on our travels and The Museum of the Coal Industry ranks right there at the top.

It was later in the day when we arrived hot and a bit tired. Our museum guide (unfortunately, I don’t remember his name) was eager to show us around. He obviously had not seen many other visitors that day. Our presence elated him, and he had lots to show and tell us about coal mining, himself being a retired miner.

As we wondered around our informative guide shared lots of facts, fun stories and history of the coal mining industry.

The museum also has a house, a general store and Tinkerbell, an EMD SW1 Switcher Locomotive.

The Museum of the Coal Industry is a hidden gem. I highly recommend stopping by!
