Pike County – Pike State Forest

We contemplated hiking in Pike State Forest but with a full day ahead, we decided not to push our luck with the kiddos so we opted to just check out the fire tower.

The kids enjoy climbing the fire towers and they’ve climbed all of the ones we’ve come across so far. Indiana has 13 fire towers. The kids and Caleb (fire towers are not my jam) have climbed, or attempted to climb 7 (this includes the Ferdinand Tower which would visit later in the day).

Unfortunately when we got to the Hartwell Tower, we discovered it was closed and in disrepair.

We were a bit bummed not to be able to climb but we hopped into the car and headed onto our next adventure.
